Book of Morton Stories November 2012:
November was quite nice around here, with almost warm
weather, so we made the most of it!
Early in the month, I took a few piano students (including John and
Sara) to play at a nursing home. It was
a nice experience for all involved! I
also had 14 students participate in another recital, and that always gets me in
a bundle of nerves. It went pretty well,
though. Of course we are now preparing
for the Christmas Recital, which is this weekend, so I’m excited (to have it
and to have it over with)!
We were able to make a quick trip to Wisconsin
for Brooklyn ’s baptism (cousin on the Morton
side). It was so nice to let the kids
have some cousin play time again, and Sara especially LOVES those girls! John loves it, too, and also loved their
Wii! J We have not been around nearly enough family
for a long time and enjoyed it a lot, even though it was just 2 days. Nicki and I used to get together with the
little kiddos almost every week, and we decided that we need to somehow get
together more often again! We even
popped in to our old ward’s Sacrament meeting in Kenosha with no warning to anyone and had fun
with an impromptu reunion with many people who we love and miss! It felt good to be there.
Since we had just traveled 2 weeks before, we didn’t go
anywhere for Thanksgiving. It was nice
to have a quiet meal—after we put Michael down for a nap! Jared likes to go all out—shocking, I know, so
we had a total feast and he even made 4 fancy pies to take to a friend’s for
dessert that night, so we had plenty to enjoy!
Michael is almost 18 mos., and is learning some totally
adorable words. My favorites are baby
(bee-bee), okay, hi, and uh-oh! He still
keeps us laughing all the time!
Sara just turned 7 yesterday (Dec. 5), and had been wanting
an American Girl Doll, so she pooled up all the bday $ from us and grandparents
and what she had been saving and had just enough. I admit I was happy to take her up to the
American Girl Doll store and let her pick out a beautiful doll—I’m maybe even a
little jealous! I know it’s all nuts,
but anyway, she was excited!
John is doing great, too, and reading The Hobbit, so if
anyone wants to talk Lord of the Rings, he’d be happy to!
