Book of Morton Stories, October 2012
I just have a couple minutes, so I’ll try to give the edited
version...
We had a fun October here, with a 2 week break from school,
where we spent a lot of time playing the piano (trying to make up for sub-par
practicing of late) and warming up our new trampoline—loving that.
The main event was gearing up for Halloween, and this year
John picked out a ninja costume, which I don’t want to ever do again because it
was too hard to see him in the dark!
Scary! We went trick-or-treating
in a busy neighborhood, so it was hard to keep track of him a few times, but he
stayed close for the most part. But he
was a very handsome ninja!
Sara wore an old dance costume of mine to be a “dance
fairy.” She is quite into the Rainbow
Magic Fairy books, and that inspired her costume. She added pink fairy wings, a boa, and lots
of glitter spray and was such a beautiful fairy!
Michael was a bat, in a super cute costume that I borrowed
from a friend—got to love that! He became quite a fan of the whole deal when he
started seeing all the candy!
We went to a number of Halloween things--the church party, 2
different grocery store events, and the traditional trick-or-treating with
friends, so we really maximized those costumes!
I think it will take months to work through the candy, but I won’t
complain!
One other notable thing—John was
chosen to be the Physical Education student of the month, so that was
awesome! Did I already tell the sweet
story of my good little guy who ran with a classmate who was getting really
frustrated in their ½ mile run? The
classmate has some type of autism-like disorder, and John saw that he was
having a hard time and went to him to help cheer him up and help him finish,
even though they came in way last place on a timed run. What a good boy!
Here is the email from his teacher:
Mr. and Mrs. Morton –
It is my pleasure you inform you that John has
been selected as Physical Education Student of the Month for the month of
September. During this time John showed outstanding sportsmanship to his class,
he has participated in all class activities with a great attitude and has set a
fine example for other students. John is a positive leader and is doing a great
job!
I appreciate John’s efforts and wish him continued
success in physical education class. It is refreshing to work with a student
who makes superior effort to be successful and responsible!
Anyway, I guess that wasn’t too short...got to run now! Much love to you all and we are counting down
